Vanoli: Fiorentina shift focus, Piccoli shines

Vanoli: Fiorentina Needed New Direction, Piccoli a ‘Diamond in the Rough’

Italian coach Paolo Vanoli has shared his thoughts on ACF Fiorentina, suggesting the team required a shift in focus to regain momentum, while also praising young forward Roberto Piccoli as a “diamond in the rough.”

Speaking ahead of upcoming fixtures,  iv Vanoli emphasized that Fiorentina had reached a point in the season where redefining their objectives was essential.

With inconsistent results affecting their campaign, he believes the club needed to recalibrate its ambitions—whether pushing for European qualification or stabilizing performances in Serie A.

Vanoli highlighted that such transitions are common in long seasons, particularly for teams balancing domestic and European commitments.

According to him, adapting goals mid-season can help restore confidence and provide clearer direction for players and staff.

A key part of his comments focused on Roberto Piccoli, whom he described as a player with untapped potential.

The young striker, still developing his consistency and finishing, has shown flashes of quality that suggest he could become a valuable asset with the right guidance and opportunities.

“Piccoli is a diamond in the rough,” Vanoli noted, indicating that patience and proper development could unlock his full capabilities.

His physical presence and attacking instincts make him a promising option for Fiorentina’s future.

As Fiorentina look to navigate the remainder of their season, Vanoli’s remarks underline both the need for strategic adjustment and the importance of nurturing emerging talent—factors that could prove decisive in shaping the club’s trajectory.
