 Nicholas Brendon, best known for playing Xander Harris in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 54.

According to statements from his family, the actor passed away in his sleep on March 20, 2026, from natural causes

Brendon rose to fame in the late 1990s as Xander, the witty and loyal member of Buffy’s inner circle, appearing throughout the show’s seven-season run (1997–2003). 

His performance made him a fan favorite, portraying the “ordinary” human among a group of supernatural heroes.

Career and life

Beyond Buffy, Brendon also appeared in series such as Criminal Minds and films like Psycho Beach Party

In later years, he developed a passion for painting and visual art, which his family said became an important part of his life. 

He had also been open about personal struggles, including health issues and addiction, but was reportedly receiving treatment and remained optimistic before his death.
