Winter Olympics | 6840° Stuns Crowd, Wang Ziyang Advances to Snowboard U‑Pipe Final

At the 2026 Milan‑Cortina Winter Olympics in the men’s snowboard halfpipe (U‑pipe) qualifiers, Chinese athlete Wang Ziyang wowed the crowd with high‑difficulty maneuvers and successfully advanced to the final.

The event took place on February 11 in Livigno, Italy

During his second run, Wang executed an impressive routine featuring three 1440° spins and two 1260° spins, electrifying the audience.

Despite minor issues with landings and grabs, he scored 80.50 points, ranking 10th and earning a spot in the final.

Wang expressed that this competition was particularly meaningful for him.

He revealed that after suffering a serious knee injury (multiple ligament and meniscus tears) at the Asian Winter Games, he worked hard on recovery while also confronting psychological fears.

This performance marked a breakthrough, showing renewed confidence and commitment.

In the qualifiers, Australian star Scotty James led with 94.00 points, while other top competitors from Japan and elsewhere also advanced.

Another Chinese athlete, Ren Zhongshuo, unfortunately did not qualify due to performance issues.

The men’s U‑pipe final is scheduled for February 13, where Wang Ziyang will continue to represent China and compete for a higher ranking.
